News and stuff; Coen Brothers on writing a musical?

Speculation about Joel and Ethan's post-True Grit projects began back in December, when the brothers confessed to be willing to make a horror movie, possibly starring Francis McDormand. Six months later, the reports couldn't extend in a more different direction. In conversation with The Playlist, the authors of Fargo stated that "we’re working on a movie now that has music in it but it’s pretty much all performed live, single instrument so it’s hard to tell." and that "(...) the [musical] thing we’re doing now, we’re not writing specifically for any of the parts which is unusual for us.". Well I'm not a big fan of musicals but I sure want to see how it gets mixed with the Coen's bizarrely-ordinary characters and their awkward neo-noir problem-solution relationships.

Also, writes Deadline, Daren Arronofsky has already got his Noah's Ark project circulating in package. This is an old idea of the Swan King and the original script he wrote years ago may be the version John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator) is currently re-writing. The same source still talks about numbers and says $130 thousand is what the director is asking for.

J.J. Abrams' mysterious sci-fi thriller Super 8 has finally opened in the US and scored a $12 million debut box-office. It got a 82% positive review on Rotten Tomatoes which will certainly sustain the worldwide intrigued expectations. I shall recall you that this movie went through months of a tight carefully planned marketing campaign, chiefly dedicated to releasing several viral videos and to an against-all-odds keeping of the plot as an utter secret.

Rowan Joffe (The American) was assigned the script of the new HBO-BBC co-production, about "the database run by former hacker and internet activist Julian Assange and his operatives, whose mission is to collect and disseminate via the Internet private, secret and classified information from anonymous sources.”. So, after Facebook and WikiLeaks what'll be next ? Google ?
